PDHPE

The Personal Development, Health and Physical Education syllabus provides a strengths-based approach towards developing the knowledge, understanding and skills students need to enhance their own and others’ health, safety, wellbeing and participation in physical activity in varied and changing contexts. The syllabus provides opportunities for students to develop self-management, interpersonal and movement skills to help students become empowered, self-confident and socially responsible citizens.

The PDHPE program reflects the needs of the students within the school. By providing the students with the knowledge and skills to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, forms the framework for the development of an effective program across all year groups. The PDHPE syllabus encompasses the many facets of health and exercise activities in which students can gain the ability to develop relationships that promote effective movement outcomes and healthy behaviours.

PDHPE is mandatory in Years 7-10 and students can elect to study Physical Activity and Sports Studies in Year 9 and 10. Students in Years 11 and 12 can also undertake studies in PDHPE and Sports Lifestyle and Recreation for the HSC. This is why PDHPE is integrated into the whole school program to allow students to gain these vital skills and develop their own set of values in today’s society.
