WELCOME TO OUR LIBRARY

The school library is an inclusive, dynamic, information rich learning environment that supports the learning needs of students.

Our technology rich, light filled split level flexible learning area completely transforms to meet the needs of a large school with 8 modular lounges, collaborative cloud whiteboard top tables, carrell tables for individual study and modular lounge seating to enjoy reading for pleasure.

Students have access to a state-of-the-art Technology Hub which includes a Virtual Reality area to engage in 21st century learning, RØDE Podcaster producer station/ studio, A full video editing suit and designated filming zone with an autocue.

In addition to this, the library is divided into specialised learning zones to maximise student engagement and cater to different learning styles. Whole class reading areas allow for students to engage with their reading materials in a group setting. The front entry table zone with whiteboard tops for collaborative learning are perfect for group work or project-based learning activities.

• The use of small seminar rooms for group projects and meetings

HSC Resources

There is a designated area in the library containing a range of HSC resources. These include a large collection of study guides, information on lectures offered by several universities, job guides and publications such as the latest UAC Guide. Our Careers Adviser regularly updates information on Career and University pathways, which are freely available to the students.

Premiers Reaching Challenge

Each year the PHHS library encourages and facilitates the Premiers Reading Challenge.

Oliver/ My School Library hosts our catalogue which includes seamless access to resources such as ClickView Online and to reliable institutions such as the National Library’s Trove site, the Sutherland Library, the NSW State Library, and the Australian Museum. Students can access this from home through the Oliver widget on their DET portal.

Port Hacking High School Library is proud to be a member of a strong community network that connects all school and community libraries.

With the central library at Sutherland and the Miranda branch a two-minute stroll from the school gate, the Shire community libraries offer invaluable support to children of all ages. From free school holiday programs and workshops with a clear curriculum focus to seminars and lectures for specific HSC subject/exam success.

Sutherland Shire libraries also makes available comprehensive access to a range of credible research databases such as Britannica Online.
