Languages

Port Hacking High School offers a comprehensive French program from Stages 4–6. All Year 8 students complete a mandatory 100-hour course introducing language learning and its benefits. They can then continue with the 200-hour Stage 5 course, developing skills through practical topics to build confidence in the French-speaking world. In Stage 6, students choose French Beginners or Continuers, catering to new and continuing learners. In 2025, the school ran an Overseas Study Tour to France, Belgium, and Germany with the HSIE faculty, enriching student learning. Future senior French students will be encouraged to join similar programs.

Students experience French through cultural activities like film festivals, restaurant visits, crêpe-making, cultural incursions, and collaboration with nearby schools. These enhance communication skills, language understanding, and cultural appreciation.
